ANSER - Advancing National Strategies and Enabling Results

Assure Emergency and Interoperable Communications for First Responders Act of 2005
On Sep. 22, the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee approved a measure that would authorize the Homeland Security Department to dole out $3.3 billion over the next five years to enable first responders to communicate better during an emergency. The "Assure Emergency and Interoperable Communications for First Responders Act of 2005" [S. 1725] would authorize $400 million in state grants to strengthen emergency communications systems next year and increase the amount annually to $1 billion by 2010.

Center for Biopreparedness Education

Chemical Emergency Preparedness and Prevention Office
Environmental safety is everyone's responsibility. In recent years, one aspect of this broad field has come into sharp focus: the safe handling of chemicals. Following an incident in 1984 in Bhopal, India, which killed more than 2,000 people, initiatives have sprung up in the public and private sectors to determine how we maintain the quality of life and still manage chemicals safely. EPA has taken a leading role in building programs to respond to and prevent chemical accidents. EPA's activities in these areas come together in its Chemical Emergency Preparedness and Prevention Office (CEPPO), organized in 1985.

Civil Engineering Research Foundation (CERF)
CERF is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, created by ASCE, focused on advancing the design and construction industry through innovation. In collaboration with the construction, engineering, design and environmental industries, CERF promotes and facilitates the advancement of innovation to improve productivity. GovernmentDocs.org was created to advance the values of open and accountable government. This site gives the public an unprecedented level of access to government documents by allowing users to browse, search, and review hundreds of thousands of pages acquired through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and other public disclosure, or ?sunshine,? laws. With the GovernmentDocs.org system, citizen reviewers can engage in the government accountability process like never before. Registered users can review and comment on documents, adding their insights and expertise to the work of the national nonprofit organizations which are partnering on this project.
